| Part of the "Using QuSheet" tutorial for QuSheet |
| Summary |
QuSheet’s undo/redo system is accessed with the Edit menu or the undo/redo tool strip buttons. Control Z and Control Y are not supported. |
QuSheet tells you what it will undo or redo using the menu or, for the tool strip buttons, the status bar. |
“Doing” rather than “Redoing” clears out the “redo” forward history in much the same way as that new forward navigation cleared out the old forward navigation history. |
Not everything is undoable – only those actions which affect QuSheet’s final output are. Changes to display preferences such as column sizes are not. |
QuSheet file generation is also not undoable. It is up to you to backup your files. |
Hitting undo or redo not only un-does the last command (or re-does the last undone command), it also cancels whatever you were doing at the time. Beware. |
Input fields and cells are colour coded using the “entry” colour to indicate to you that you are mid-edit so that you do not lose your edits inadvertently when you undo or redo. |
An edit is accepted by QuSheet when you press enter or navigate away, assuming that the edit was not in error (in which case it is cancelled). |
The Escape key cancels an edit. |
When inputting a new row in a display table using the insertion row, the whole row is colour coded using the “entry” colour to show you that the *whole row* is mid-edit. Be careful about using Undo or Redo in these situations – you wont just cancel the last change you made to the insertion row, you’ll cancel the whole of the row insertion process. |
Right-clicking on the insertion row inserts (and accepts into QuSheet) a new row before popping up a dialog box to allow you to create a new key item in-situ. |
All of this is explained in the 4th level of Help (see Help) under Editting. |
A: The number of commands kept in the undo stack is configurable to between 0 and 50 under Preferences > Resources. |
